Dr. Diana Sorrentino, Ph.D. is a recognized subject matter expert on gender diversity and being transgender providing counseling, mentorship and support for gender diverse, transgender individuals and their families through her clinical practice. As a subject matter expert; with doctoral degrees in Sociology and Psychology, she also provides professional development educational programs and clinical support for the medical and behavioral healthcare professionals providing gender affirming care.
Supplementing her formal studies in Sociology and Psychology; she has been studying and researching gender diversity and transgender development and the genetic, neurobiological and hormonal influences on the development of incongruent gender identities since the 1980s. Commencing in 1990, she began developing and delivering professional development educational training on gender diversity and transgender development for healthcare providers and the LGBTQ+ community. Her educational programs have been presented locally and nationally at conferences and symposiums for healthcare professionals, as well as for human resource professionals, business and professional trade organizations. This combination of her formal academic education, coupled with her years of experience, research and the professional development training she provides, has positioned her as a nationally recognized subject matter expert in the field.
Beyond her direct work with individuals, clinicians and healthcare professionals, Dr. Sorrentino’s hosts and produces a Podcast Series entitled: Paradoxes of Gender. The Podcast Episodes are created to deliver professional development educational training for the healthcare professionals beyond her formal seminar and workshop presentations. The Paradoxes of Gender Podcasts, as of the date of publication for this book, have reached international audiences with subscribers in 35 countries. Dr. Sorrentino has frequently been called to deliver keynote addresses, lectures and seminars on gender diversity and being transgender for churches, religious seminaries, schools, colleges and universities with the delivery of over 900+ professional development educational programs throughout her career.
Pulling all of this together is the fact that; Dr. Sorrentino is an Affirmed Woman. Her life’s evolution (transition in the day) took place in 1990. Living life as her authentic self, underscored by her previous years of dysphoria, anxiety and confusion over her incongruent gender identity prior to her official evolution, accepting her self-attributed gender identity, she has incorporated her lived experiences with the knowledge and experience gained through research, study and working directly with gender diverse, transgender individuals and their families.
